It’s almost time for Tales of the Cryptids, Annual 2026!
Starting June 1, anyone in grades 6-12 can participate in Ramsey County Library’s 2026 teen summer reading program. Read 20 books or read for 20 hours before August 8, track your progress on a paper reading tracker or on Beanstack, and win prizes!
Start Summer Reading
Use your Beanstack account, opens a new window to login (this may be different than your account login on our webpage) or download the Beanstack Tracker app, opens a new window on your device and choose the "Summer Break" challenge to participate or pick up a reading tracker at a Ramsey County Library location nearest to you. Be sure to stop by the library to pick up a free book and a sticker for participating!
Attend free programs and events
In addition to the reading challenge, the library is offering many free programs and events to keep teens busy this summer. Pick up a program catalog, along with your reading tracker and sticker, to find out what’s happening at each library branch. Can’t wait? Please note that some programs require registration. Online registration will be available until July 1, then registration will be available by calling the library location where the program or event is being held due to a planned software transition this summer.
Complete the program
Receive a token for a small cone at Cup and Cone in White Bear Lake and be entered into the grand prize drawing by earning badges in Beanstack or filling out your Reading Tracker to complete the program. All badges or paper tracker must be completed by August 8 to earn prizes. Paper trackers must be returned to a Ramsey County Library location by August 8 to be entered into the grand prize drawing.
Grand prizes
Participants who complete the summer reading program will automatically be entered into a drawing for $30 gift cards to Barnes and Noble, Starbucks or Target, as well as four-packs of tickets to the Minnesota State Fair.
The summer reading program is sponsored by the Ramsey County Library Friends, MELSA, Minnesota State Fair, Minnesota Twins, Sea Life at Mall of America, and Cup and Cone in White Bear Lake, with additional funding from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
