Growing up in India, Shakun Maheshwari, opens a new window developed a deep appreciation for traditional art and careful observation of the natural world. Over the years, her artistic journey expanded to include painting, photography, graphic design, batik, printmaking, and other visual arts. Each medium offers a different way to express her connection with nature while reflecting her heritage and experiences living in Minnesota.
Nature has always been Shakun's greatest source of inspiration. Whether she's am painting a landscape, photographing a flower, or capturing the quiet beauty of a bird in its natural surroundings, Shakun is drawn to the colors, textures, and patterns that often go unnoticed. Her work is an invitation to pause, observe, and appreciate the beauty found in both familiar places and distant journeys.
This exhibition brings together acrylic paintings, photographs, and giclée prints created from Shakun's original batik artwork. The collection moves from intimate views of flowers to sweeping landscapes, with birds and scenes from her travels woven throughout. Although the subjects vary, they are connected by a shared appreciation for light, color, and the quiet moments that inspire creativity.
