This summer, Ramey County Library will be switching to new behind‑the‑scenes software that helps the library run smoothly. This software powers the online catalog so you can search for books, place holds, renew items, and manage your library account from home or on your device. In addition to the familiar features you already love—tracking your reading history, keeping your current holds, and creating personalized reading lists—this updated system will make it easier than ever to save time, discover new materials, and engage with your local library.
The library’s Digital Services department has been working closely with library staff to prepare for this transition. We will soon begin migrating thousands of records, including patron information, library catalog data and web content.
You will start to see temporary changes to how you use the library in June 2026. Checking this webpage throughout the summer will keep you informed and help you plan your visit. Our Facebook page and newsletters will also keep you up to date with everything happening at the library.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition.
Schedule
June 15 - Extended Checkout, ILLs Unavailable
Physical materials checked out starting on June 15 will have extended checkout periods. Checkouts will extend temporarily from three weeks to six weeks. Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests will be unavailable in and outbound.
July 5 – Limited Service
Library services will be limited from July 5-15. Please hold on to your borrowed materials during this phase. If you’re checking out materials, please bring your physical library card with you.
Cardholders will be able to check materials out from the shelves at the branch they are physically at, borrow digital materials from Libby, and use the library’s digital resources. The public computers, wi-fi, printing, faxing, and scanning remain available at the library.
Placing a hold will be unavailable and existing holds will not be fulfilled. New library cards cannot be issued, and existing cardholders and library staff will not be able to access accounts. Register for events as directed or by phone. Our mobile app will be unavailable. What you see on our website might not accurately reflect what’s on our shelves at each branch.
July 15 – Many Services Become Available
Placing holds, requesting materials from other branches, getting a new library card, and accessing cardholder accounts resumes after July 15. Materials you’ve been holding on to can be returned to the library.
Library users will be using a temporary catalog where you can login to your account, place holds and see what’s available on the shelves at each library location. Our app will not yet be available.
July 29 – Services Resume
All library services return to normal. Library catalog and our mobile app, interlibrary loans, and library card signups are all available.
