Phillip Schmidt, opens a new window is a Minnesota oil painter whose work combines bold color, expressive brushwork, and a love for the places we live and travel. After more than 15 years working professionally in pottery, Phil brought that same hands-on tactile approach to painting.
His painting often explore the relationship between nature and the things we build within it—from Minnesota lakes and small-town streets to landscapes discovered while traveling. Working primarily with thick layers of oil paint, Phil creates energetic paintings that invite you to slow down and take a closer look.
