Memory Minders Kits for Caregivers: Expanded for 2018

Ramsey County Library is excited to announce the Memory Minders Kits for Caregivers collection has been expanded to all library locations.

In 2017, Ramsey County Library piloted Memory Minders Kits at the libraries in Roseville and Shoreview. Within one week, all kits were checked out due to a generous response from our community.

Caregiving for those with dementia can be stressful and can adversely affect casual interactions and visits. The kits provide information on dementia and are filled with books, CDs, DVDs and interactive activities. The activities include puzzles, games or conversation cards, specifically selected to spark memories, create conversation and provide positive interactions. Two new kits were created specific to Lewy Body Dementia and to help children understand their loved ones with dementia.

Currently, over 100 unique Memory Minders Kits are available for check out three weeks at a time. You can also renew or request a kit through the Library’s catalog. Download a handout about the Memory Minders Kits here.

The Memory Minders Kits for Caregivers were made possible through a partnership with the Roseville Alzheimer’s & Dementia Community Action Team, and generous sponsorships by Cherrywood Pointe, Lyngblomsten, Sunrise Senior Living, New Perspectives Senior Living, UCare, Arthur’s Residential Care, and the Friends of the Ramsey County Libraries.
