Decodables are books designed to build a reader's skills gradually by introducing simple words that match letters to their sound (grapheme to phoneme correspondence).

Decodable books help readers sound out words instead of guessing based on context or repetition. Each book builds on prior skills, progressing from short vowel and consonant combinations to blended sounds, digraphs, and long vowel words.

Decodables are available at each Ramsey County Library location. Look for the decodable sticker on the book!
