Volunteers play a vital role in support of the Library's mission and goals by bringing energy, enthusiasm, skills, and willingness to serve the community.  In 2021, our library volunteers provided over 6,000 hours of service. We appreciate everything they do!

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Circulation Assistants volunteer weekly for 2-4 hours and primarily assist with filling patron requests.

Special Events Volunteers assist at events such as programming kickoffs and other short-term projects.

Teen Volunteer Position Descriptions

Teen Area Specialists assist the teen librarian with general tasks and organizing in the teen area.

Teen Program Volunteers assist with teen programming such as Maker Teen, Teen Gaming, and Book Clubs.

Complete the application below. You can submit a completed application in person at any of our branches, or by mail or email to our Volunteer Services Coordinator. Library staff will contact you as new openings that match your interest occur.

Ramsey County Library Friends Volunteer Opportunities

The Ramsey County Library Friends, opens a new window is a group of volunteers who work hard on behalf of the library. Since 1979, hundreds of Friends members, volunteers, and donors have provided more than $1 million in funding, materials, and enhancements to Ramsey County Library.

We welcome your volunteer efforts!  Friends volunteers work hard on behalf of the library raising funds, providing materials and enhancing library programs.  You can help!  Call the Friends office at 651-486-2213 to learn more about ways to support your library through these volunteer opportunities:
