Special Features:  The new library in Shoreview opened in January 2017 in the heart of the Shoreview Commons area. Floor to ceiling windows, rich walnut wood details, and a fireplace provide a warm and welcoming environment. A wood laptop bar and bench made of reclaimed oaks from the building site spans the west wall. Study tables and groups of comfortable seating create suitable spaces for browsing, reading, group study or individual work. The children’s area includes Minnesota Children’s Museum pre-literacy interactive installations, dedicated computers and is well stocked with books, DVDs and CDs. The teen area features a spacious lounge area, media lab and computers.

The library has an extensive collection of mystery and travel books, along with classic and contemporary DVDs, video games, and talking books. A Fiction Book Group, two Mystery Book Groups and a Poetry Circle meet monthly.  Family and Baby Storytimes are offered weekly. Teen and digital literacy programming is regularly scheduled. A gallery in the Community Program Room provides art display space including regular exhibitions by Gallery 96, a local nonprofit arts collective.

Built using SB 2030 guidelines, the library has many energy-saving features, including Underfloor air distribution which provides heating and cooling via floor diffusers, LED interior and exterior lighting, daylighting sensors which turn down lights at the perimeter when not needed, and efficient mechanical and electrical systems.
