Modified services at Ramsey County Library are outlined below.

Current Library Services by Location

Please confirm if your location is open and what services are available before visiting.

Visitors entering a Ramsey County Library are required to wear face coverings, and will be provided a disposable mask if they do not have one.

Please be advised: We are not quarantining materials that are returned to the library. If you have concerns, consider washing your hands after handling or quarantine your materials at home before handling.

Picking Up Requested Items

All libraries offer pickup of requested items.   Browsing access to other library materials is not available.

Pick Up Your Requested Items Inside the Library
Request pickup is self-service at the libraries in Roseville and Shoreview.  Access to request shelves and self-checkout stations is available.

Contactless request pickup is available in the lobby at the libraries in Maplewood, New Brighton, North St. Paul and White Bear Lake. Please call to have your items checked out before arrival.

Computers by Appointment

Visitors entering a Ramsey County Library are required to wear face coverings, and will be provided a disposable mask if they do not have one.

Ramsey County Service Centers located at the libraries in Maplewood, Roseville and Shoreview, provide residents with access to computers by appointment.

How to Make an Appointment
To make an appointment, call 651-266-8500. This appointment line is answered Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

To reach a scheduler after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends, call a library to book an appointment.

Appointments will be taken up to seven days in advance. They are available at the following times:

  • One-hour long appointments between 8:30-3 Monday through Friday
  • Two-hour long appointments at 6pm Monday through Thursday, 10am and 2pm Saturday, and 2pm Sunday

Please do not make a computer appointment if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Fever of 100.4 or higher
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sore throat
  • Sneezing or runny nose
  • Headache or body aches and pains
  • Known exposure to someone diagnosed with COVID-19

Arriving at Your Appointment
Please wait in the designated entrance location and practice social distancing.

During Your Appointment

  • Patrons may have one other person accompany them as needed. Each individual must be capable of maintaining social distancing.
  • Limited complimentary printing services will be available. If you need a computer only for printing, please consider calling to request your print materials for grab and go, curbside or lobby pickup.
  • The library collection will not be available for browsing, but you may call to request materials.
  • Covered drinks will be allowed in the computer space, but not food.

Additional Modified Services

Library Service FAQs

  • Yes. All libraries offer pickup of requested items. Click here to learn more. Library materials may be returned at all locations. No overdue charges will accrue.

  • We have resumed the normal 3-week checkout period for Library materials. Most items may be renewed (extended) a maximum of two times, online or by telephone, if no one else has requested the material. You can call the library or check your online account to see when your items are due.

  • Yes. You may contact a Ramsey County librarian at any branch or access your online account to place requests.
