Covid-19 has put a strain on what was growing a positive economic and political relationship between China and the African continent. As President Xi Jinping’s “Belt and Road initiative” expands Chinese power, the response to Covid-19 and the African government’s growing debt to China, has seen pushback. What are the growing economic and political issues between China and Africa? 

Duncan McCampbell is a lawyer and professor of international business and law at Metropolitan State University. He spent 14 years with the Westlaw division of Thomson Reuters, starting new online businesses in the UK, Germany, China, Australia, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands. A prolific writer and commentator on international business, McCampbell is the former Co-Chair of the Minnesota China Business Council.
