Gun Violence and the Glock: An Evening with Paul Barrett
Monday, June 3, 7 p.m.
RCL - Roseville
When it comes to current events, no issue is more controversial than gun control, and no author is more knowledgeable than Paul Barrett, author of widely praised Glock: The Rise of America's Gun. Barrett has spoken about gun violence on national radio and television, where his masterful command of his subject and his coolly rational approach have been able to defuse this most hot-button of topics. Ramsey County Library is honored to host his only live appearance in the Twin Cities this year.
First introduced to cops, who saw themselves as outgunned by violent cocaine gangs, today the Glock is embraced by two-thirds of all police departments. It has been glamorized in countless Hollywood movies, but it has also made headlines for a far more somber reason: its use in an alarming number of recent killing sprees. Paul Barrett will offer a not-to-be-missed discussion for anyone interested in handguns, the firearms industry, or the level of gun violence in America.
