Inquiring Minds - Rental Books

Every week, librarian Judy Woodward compiles the most interesting reference questions and sends them to the Roseville Review. Here's this week's high-demand inquiry!

Q. How can I put a request in for a rental book?

A. As a convenience to our patrons, the Library maintains a small rental collection of extremely popular best-sellers. For those who don’t want to wait through a lengthy request list to get a copy of a high-demand title, we offer the option of rental copies on a first come/first serve basis. We never take requests for our rental materials. We charge 25 cents per day for a rental book—slightly more for other rental materials—and you can keep it as long as you want. The rental collection is an entirely separate and self-supporting entity, so we never use taxpayer funds to pay for it. Our rental collection is housed near the entrance to our libraries, where you can stop and browse the next time you just can’t stand to wait one more minute for that book you want.
