Author Talk: Jana Larson
This program was recorded on March 4th 2021.
Join us as Jana Larson shares her experiences researching and writing Reel Bay: A Cinematic Essay, a genre-blending book that is equal parts memoir, mystery, reclaimed screenplay, and travelogue. In the book, Larson asks what happened to Takako Konishi, the Japanese woman found dead outside Detroit Lakes, Minnesota in 2001. Konishi's death has spawned an urban legend about her search for the money in the movie Fargo, capturing the attention of the media and filmmakers. Although her death was ultimately ruled a suicide, speculation remains about what drove her to kill herself so far from home.
