Today's Top Ten is from Whitney L. of RCL - Roseville. And Whitney says, "Normally my list would feature all books as it is my favorite form of media, but I had a lackluster year with my choice of books so I had to throw in a couple of others to make it to a Top Ten."
Scandal (TV Show) - This show made a total binge watcher out of me- and it also makes what goes on in Washington D.C. seem a little more interesting.
Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah - A story of a friendship between Kate and Tully spanning three decades-not the deepest book but still enjoyable (and somewhat emotional too!)
Dallas Buyers Club - A beautiful and inspirational movie about a Texas cowboy (played by Matthew McConaughey) diagnosed with AIDS at a time when there was very little empathy or idea on how to treat it.
Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt - An amazing debut novel taking place during the AIDS epidemic in the 80's- a coming-of-age story featuring 14 year old June and her family, along with all their secrets.
Prisoners (I technically watched this in 2014-ssshhh- don't tell) - Don't watch this while in a secluded cabin in the Wisconsin woods with no window coverings- just sayin'.
South of Broad by Pat Conroy - Another story of friendship. This one taking place in Charleston,S.C. (It makes me want to visit) between high school friends and the lengths they will go to save one of their own.
American Hustle - Go for the movie- stay for the performances- OUTSTANDING ACTING!!
The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer - This book follows six teenagers from their days at summer camp through their lives up until around middle age. Yet another book about friendship
Tula Pink's City Sampler: 100 Modern Quilt Blocks - A must have book for the modern quilter. Loved the illustrations and the various combinations she offered. Made me want to tap into my creative side.
The Birthdays by Heidi Pitlor - Full of unlikable but real characters, this book tells the story of a family gathered together over a rainy weekend in Maine. Ms. Pitlor made you feel like you were there, sitting in a chair, taking in all of the action.
