In 2012, our library volunteers provided 28,000+ hours of service. This gift of time helps the library maintain our libraries by:
Placing requested items on shelves
Pulling requested items to fulfill patron requests
Mending worn library materials
Assembling Summer Reading Program materials and prizes
Assisting at craft and reading programs
Assisting with computer classes
Mending Library puppets and toys
Cleaning up around library grounds
Volunteers play a vital role in support of the Library's mission and goals. We admire their energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to help out. We appreciate all they do!

Library Friends Make a Difference
The Friends of the Ramsey County Libraries is another group of volunteers who work hard on behalf of the library. Since 1979, hundreds of Friends members, volunteers, and donors have provided more than $1 million in funding, materials, and enhancements to Ramsey County Library.
We sponsor many special programs including the Summer Reading Program for children and teens, free computer classes for all ages, book clubs and author events. Our volunteers operate used book stores at the Maplewood, Roseville and Shoreview branch libraries and a book cart at White Bear library to help fund our projects.
Friends volunteers also promote child literacy through Reading Friends, work at semi- annual used book sales, wear our mascot costume at special events, serve on committees to plan programs, raise funds, conduct a 5K walk-run, help with Kindergarten Library Card Day, annual luncheon, recruit members, prepare mailings, and more.
