As surely as the weather turns warm and the lazy days of summer approach, the lists of the best Summer Reads pop up like weeds in the sidewalk.
Here are a few great lists that will have your summer reading list (and requests lists) filled through August!
Entertainment Weekly always has its finger what's hot and happening in publishing. Check out their Summer Must-Reads: 10 Books for Your Beach Bag list, which includes Landline, the new title by librarian favorite Rainbow Rowell, and an intriguing sounding novel called Flying Shoes by Kate Howarth, a touching and disturbing novel about a horrific crime gone unsolved for 30 years.
The 15 Best Books of 2014 (So Far) from Time Magazine is written by no less an authority than the fabulous Lev Grossman. (Speaking of which, have you gotten on the list for his newest: The Magician's Land?) Titles on this list range from nonfiction to young adult to cooking to novels. Standouts include Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt by Michael Lewis, nonfiction about Wall Street traders that reads like a thriller; E. Lockhart's haunting and sophisticated (but YA) We Were Liars, and an under-the-radar title: Wonderland by Stacey D'Erasmo, a riveting look at the life of a former indie rock star.
And just in case you haven't maxed out your request list yet, Publishers Weekly weighs in with their annual Best Summer Books list. So many books, so little summer!
