Every week, librarian Judy Woodward compiles the most interesting reference questions and sends them to the Roseville Review. Here's this week's inquiry! Q. What can you tell me about peat? Is the United States a net importer or exporter? A. Peat is used for gardening and soil improvement purposes that range from golf courses to earthworm cultivation. The United States gets about 60% of its peat from elsewhere, mostly Canada. Our own peat production figures are declining.
