Books in the News - 3/3/13

Here are the books being discussed in our local newspapers on this first Sunday in March!

The Pioneer Press this week focused on two short story collections by authors of two recent popular novels:  Vampires in the Lemon Grove by Karen Russell and We Live in Water by Jess Walter.

The Book of Killowen by Erin Hart - The fourth in Erin Hart's series about Nora Gavin's American pathologist in Ireland.  Ramsey County Library program alert!  Erin Hart and her husband, Paddy O'Brien, will be appearing at Mounds View library on Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. and White Bear Lake library on Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. to talk about their new books and share a little traditional Irish music.  Mark your calendars!

The Accursed by Joyce Carol Oates - A gothic novel set in 1905 New Jersey involving demons and historical figures

Hank Greenberg: The Hero of Heroes by John Rosengren - A biography of the famous Jewish baseball player

Washed Away by Geoff Williams - Nonfiction account of the Great Flood of 1913

Telling the Bees by Peggy Hesketh - Debut novel about an elderly beekeeper
